Here the nose is moderately atypical with its array of white pepper, menthol, essence of pear and mineral reduction. There is outstanding volume to the stony and powerful larger-scaled flavors that possess a fleshy, even plump, mid-palate while delivering reasonable length on the vaguely sweet finale. As the description suggests, this is somewhat awkward today though it may better harmonize in time and my rating offers the benefit of the doubt that it will. (Drink starting 2028) - BH

The 2020 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a blend deriving from Languettes, Hautes Mourottes and Le Corton. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of citrus zest, pear and freshly baked bread, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and complete, with a satiny attack and good mid-palate depth. - WA

The Corton-Charlemagne now has three provenances, Languettes, Haut Mourottes, Le Corton. The nose is rather backward though there is concentration. Very powerful at the back, shows a touch of oak, not yet in harmony, but the building blocks are all in place. - JM
