A distinctly cool and restrained nose is comprised by notes of both red and dark currant, cinnamon, violet, Pekoe tea, clove, hoisin and noticeable wood treatment. The imposingly-scaled, concentrated and almost painfully intense mineral-driven flavors possess a beguiling inner mouth perfume that continues onto the robust, earthy, dusty and moderately austere finish that, somewhat curiously, is noticeably shorter than usual. This dense, structured and ultra-serious effort feels as though it is only beginning to take shape and as such my score offers the benefit of the doubt that this will come together with time in bottle of which I underscore that plenty will be required.

Healthy bright red. Explosive aromas of raspberry, blackberry, smoked plum, mocha, coffee, spices and truffley underbrush; this one hits most of the major red Burgundy food groups. At once tight-grained and wonderfully sweet and generous; the most vibrant of these 2013s to this point, with highly concentrated red fruit and spice flavors staining the palate and building on the aftertaste. Wonderfully sexy wine, but it's hard to imagine that this won't shut down in the bottle.
