A juicy, fruity red with currant, blackberry and blueberry character. Plums, too. Lots of chocolate. Full-bodied, round and juicy. Drink after 2022, but already luscious.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Phase V is a big, dense, powerful wine. The blackberry jam, chocolate, spice and new leather flavors are all amped up in the 2016. Readers should expect a huge, full-throttle wine. There is not a whole lot of subtlety here, but the 2016 will please readers who appreciate the more opulent side of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. More importantly, the 2016 signals a big improvement over the 2015.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Phase V leaps from the glass with gorgeous cassis, Morello cherries, candied violets, chocolate box and raspberry preserves scents with underlying nuances of fragrant earth, charcoal and smoked meats. The youthfully exuberant, full-bodied palate is absolutely packed with black and red fruit layers, framed by a solid line of grainy tannins and compelling freshness, finishing long and perfumed. Lovely.
